As the offseason comes to an end, Nats Family Report shares our opinion on the opening day roster. In the table above lists the position player on the 40-man roster. The players highlighted are on NFR’s opening day roster.
Catchers (highlighted in red)
Throughout the 2024 season, Riley Adams and Drew Millas switched between the majors and triple A pretty equally. NFR believes Riley Adams will join Keibert Ruiz on the major league roster for opening day.
Infielders (highlighted in green)
During the offseason, the Nats acquired infielders Nathaniel Lowe, Josh Bell, and Paul DeJong. Abrams, Garcia, and Lowe are pretty certain to make the opening day roster. Jose Tena and Paul DeJong are going to have to fight out the opening day third base spot, as Brady House will probably come up later in the season. Josh Bell is most likely opening day DH, with Lipscomb and Rosario in for utility.
Outfielder (highlighted in blue)
The young outfield of Crews, Young, and Wood was solidified late this past season. The question is who is going to be the backup outfielder. Alex Call and Stone Garrett both had time in the majors in 2024, while Hassell was put on the roster to save him from the rule-5 draft. NFR thinks Garrett will get the extra outfield spot for opening day.
